How TO-torials: Cleaning Your Brushes

The daunting dreaded task! Actually, it's really not that bad. It is time consuming. Last week at MAC, my lesson started fifteen minutes late because my MUA was in back cleaning his brushes from his client just before me. I couldn't even be mad, cause I know it takes time and patience. We all have different techniques and different brushes, too. Point is, it was worth the wait. Clean tools are essential. You would never paint a masterpiece with a brush that has dry paint on it from your last masterpiece, would you? Don't do that to your face.

I have seen a million videos and a million techniques. I thought about making a Youtube video for it, but there are already sooo many great ones, so I thought I would share one I came accross that is almost an identical match to my own techniques. The only difference is, I soak all of mine in a bowl of water and a bit of alcohol for about fifteen minutes first to break up any dried on product. Some say it dries out your brushes, I haven't had that problem at all. They come out clean and soft every time!

Then, follow the directions in this video...ESPECIALLY THE BABY SHAMPOO! It's a trick of the trade that almost every MUA I have encountered, swears by! Here ya go...

Hope that helps! When it comes to cleaning your brushes, it's simple. Get them clean. Cleaning them not only makes for much better application, but helps prevent pathogens and bacteria from developing. That is important stuff that most of us don't even consider when doing our face! If you have any tips or questions, feel free to leave them in the comments below!

Have a fabuLASH Friday, junkies!
